Strength Coach

Cameron was raised in La Honda, California, a small town about 45 minutes away from the Riekes Center. When he stared high school at Summit Preparatory in Redwood City in 2004, he moved to San Carlos, where he currently resides. Cameron first came to the Riekes Center in the summer of 2004 as a core student through a Summit/ Riekes partnership. After three years of consistent participation, Cameron began working at the Riekes Center as an Athletics Supervisor.

In his freshman year of high school, Cameron took a film class at the Riekes Center, where he learned to shoot, edit, and produce movies. He has since starred in several student films. Around the time Cameron began working at the Center as a Supervisor, he started taking drum lessons from his athletics coach, Spike Philips. Cameron has played in several Creative Arts recitals and took the Riekes Center/ Summit Prep rock class.

Around the age of nine Cameron began taking Funakoshi Shotokan Karate in La Honda and has been practicing since, taking his black belt ‘dan’ exam the summer on 2008. Cameron is also an avid bicyclist and public transportation user, commuting via transit or bicycling to the Center for over four years. He is planning to ride from San Carlos, CA to San Diego, CA in September along the coast. Cameron will be attending the University of California, Santa Cruz as an undergraduate student starting the fall of 2008. He is currently studying for the NSCA-CPT exam and plans to continue his career as a strength coach in Santa Cruz while attending school there. Cameron one day hopes to continue working as a Strength Coach at the Riekes Center.
