Michelle grew up in sunny San Diego catching blue bellies and rolly-pollies with her cousins and wandering the beaches in search of sand dollars. She moved to Washington state at a young age where her love of the natural world continued to grow. Her families 3 acre homestead with fruit trees and gardens was her first taste of the country life. She spent her free time in the mountains hiking to amazing waterfalls in the summer and snowboard instructing for little ones in the winter. Upon returning to San Diego at age 18, Michelle began studying herbalism and working on an organic farm. Her explorations turned to backpacking the vast desert landscapes and mountains of the Southwest.
She now lives in the beautiful coastal hills of Pescadero, where she has been living and working in Cultural Mentoring scenarios over the past 5 years. She has taken 9 month intensive naturalist training courses: IONA (Institute of Nature Awareness) and RDNA (Regenerative Design Nature Awareness) with Jon Young, Penny Livingston and James Stark. These studies have grounded her in Nature Awareness, Cultural Mentoring, Permaculture and Peace Maker Principles. A gracious mother of two blossoming young naturalists, Nayela and baby Eland, who keep her ever present to the unfolding natural mysteries of life. She loves wildcrafting food and herbs, making herbal medicine, wandering through the woods, and gardening. She also enjoys spending time with little ones in nature, sharing her love and genuine curiosity for the natural world. Michelle is a proud Auntie to many little angels who brighten her days and uplift her mind like the beautiful songs of the grosbeaks, thrushes and winter wrens.... She is thrilled to return to instruct the Nest to Fledge program this fall.
