Liam Purvis
Liam's backdoor opened to a vast expanse of wilderness all throughout his childhood in upstate NY. From the first time he caught a garter snake, his passion, curiosity, and sense of adventure carried him to explore far reaching horizons in the outdoors. His parents, mentors and peers carried him through this exploration with the deepest commitment. He is new to California, and is just beginning to experience the opportunities and life forms on the west coast. He sees teaching this passion as an activity of absolute necessity, not only for the coming generations, but also for his well being. The joy in a child's expression, or the intense concentration of his or her learning, always brightens his day, especially if he had something to do with it. Liam's greatest enthusiasms for the outdoors include wilderness survival, and awareness. The cumulative months spent camping, surviving, and scouting in the North East provide the bedrock from where he teaches these skills. He is bringing the east coast medicine while learning from the west, and enjoying every minute of it. He has experience teaching at several wilderness youth and nature center programs and is a graduate of the Vermont Wilderness School.
