David Nava was born on May 19, 1985 in Redwood City, CA. At the tender age of 6, “Nava” (as he is more often called) began playing baseball and soccer. He was a larger than average boy and was diagnosed with pediatric obesity at the age of ten with a weight of 220 pounds. He and his father decided that a change had to be made. He began to power-walk twice a day for 40 minutes. He then began running twice a day and eventually became the youngest runner to start and finish the San Diego Half Marathon (13.2 miles). In eighth grade, Nava was introduced to the Riekes Center by his brother, Daniel, who was already a member. The Riekes Center and Nava were a perfect match. “People liked me for who I was, not what I did or what I looked like.” Nava then went to St. Francis High School (something he was earlier told he could never do) where his Football team won a CCS Championship. Nava’s college career then continued on to the College of San Mateo. After playing one year of junior-college football, Nava decided to pursue more academic endeavors. Nava also enjoys playing drums for his church, Harvest Christian Center. He is planning on transferring to the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University and he plans to major in Business Management and Minor in theatrical arts. A jack of all trades but a master of none, Nava enjoys doing a little bit of everything; you’ll find him somewhere around the Riekes Center being loud and having a good time.
"Life is too short not to enjoy every second of it."
